ABOUT THE TEAM
Our team is committed to supporting immigrant, international, and refugee students as they transition into college life and build a strong sense of belonging. Guided by the International Student Support Framework and the goals of the Centre for International Education and Global Partnerships, we design programs and experiences that help students navigate academic, social, and cultural adjustments with confidence.
We work collaboratively across the College, as well as with community and global partners, to ensure students have access to the resources and guidance they need to succeed. Our focus is on strengthening student retention, enhancing well‑being, and creating an environment where every learner feels welcomed, supported, and empowered to thrive.
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting to the Manager, Global Engagement, the International Student Support Coordinator provides support to enrolled immigrant, international, and refugee students through various transitional and integration programs and student support activities. This role plans, develops and coordinates international student experiences and transition support strategies in accordance with the International Student Support Framework and the Centre for International Education and Global Partnerships’ goals and strategies. This role supports the targeted students’ retention and success in consultation and collaboration with stakeholders across the College and local community and global partners.
 
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in education, international studies, or social sciences. A combination of education and experience may be considered 
  • Experience and success working in several of the following areas: cross-cultural understanding and sensitivity; intercultural training; immigrant and international student services/counselling; crisis intervention; immigration, settlement, and cultural adaptation processes; and program management and support activity facilitation
  • In-depth knowledge of the international, immigrant and refugee student lifecycle and the transitional and integration programs related to their settlement, health wellbeing and academic success
  • Experience working with confidential records and knowledge of FIPPA
  • Excellent judgement, interpersonal, oral and written communication, presentation and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with the structure of Manitoba’s Labour and Immigration Department and its programs, mandates and strategic priorities related to International Education
  • Extensive experience in hosting online programs and support activities for large group of audience and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to student/client success and adhering to high ethical and professional standards
  • Direct experience providing support to students and immigrants in both pre-and post arrival situations
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

NICE TO HAVE
  • Awareness of the ethical, societal, and policy considerations related to AI
  • Openness to using AI tools as relevant to role specific work
  • Fluent in another language specifically in Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, and Vietnamese
  • A designation with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) and membership in good standing, such as RCIC or RISIA
  • Training in Diversity and Intercultural Competency or other Cultural Awareness programs
  • Master’s credential in business, education or social sciences is an asset

Salary Range for this position: $64,053 to $90,272 per annum.
 
Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable.
 
December Break: employees receive time off with pay during the period between Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
