Introduction
The Employment Standards Branch provides the public with information regarding employment standards issues such as unpaid wages, vacation wages and termination of employment. Officers investigate complaints filed by employees about possible non-compliance with the Employment Standards Code.

Duties:
Reporting to the Manager of Client Services, the incumbent will investigate claims involving employers and employees from across the province. The work involves review of records, documents, and payroll information to make impartial legal determinations to ensure compliance with Employment Standards legislation. The position also provides education, interpretation and advice to employers, employees, and the general public regarding labour legislation both in person and over the telephone.

Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Post-secondary education in labour studies, human resources, conflict resolution, or criminal justice. Suitable combination of related education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience working in a customer service environment.
  • Experience in conflict and/or dispute resolution.
  • Experience interpreting and explaining legislation, policies and/or procedures.
  • Experience planning and performing investigations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to extract, analyze and evaluate information impartially.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
