Introduction
Manitoba Parks is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Park Works Supervisor 2 (PK2) based out of Spruce Woods Provincial Park. The incumbent will be required to travel within the park as well as to Criddle Vane and Seton Provincial Park and to Holland wayside. Occassionally required to travel to other provincial parks or wayside areas within the region.
Duties:
Reporting to the Park Works Supervisor 3 ( PK3), the incumbent is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation and supervision of maintenance, operations and construction activities within the Spruce Woods District made up of Spruce Woods, Criddle Vane and Seton Provincial Parks and Holland wayside. Occassionally other provincial parks or wayside areas within the region. The incumbent responsibilities may include: operation and/or maintenance of approximately 275 campsites, operation and/or maintenance of yurts, water and wastewater systems, garbage/recycling program, buildings, roads, a shop for minor mechanical repairs and carpentry projects, winter and summer recreation areas which includes snowmobile, x-country ski and ATV/UTV trails, hiking trails, canoe routes, beaches, day/group use areas, boat launches, backcountry and cultural and historic sites.

Qualifications:
Essential:
Experience in building, construction and maintenance of facilities
Experience supervising staff including providing training, guidance and direction
Experience or training in project management including construction estimation, monitoring budgets, purchasing and inventorycontrol
Experience inspecting and monitoring the maintenance of water and waste water systems
Ability to organize, plan and prioritize a complex and changing workload
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work in a team environment
Strong verbal communication skills
Strong written communication skills
Desired:
Knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety Act
Experience using Microsoft Office applications or similar computer applications
Experience in the operation and maintenance of public water and wastewater distribution and collection systems
Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must possess and maintain a valid Full Stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's license and be willing and able to acquire and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 3 driver's license with air brake endorsement within one (1) year
Must be willing and able to work extended hours, weekends, and statutory holidays, as well as travel to and work in other outlying areas within the Region
Must have Class 1 Water Distribution and Class 1 Wastewater Treatment and Collection Certification or be willing and able to acquire and maintain certification within three (3) years of the employment start date
Must be able to work with paints, solvents and chemicals as/when required
Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position which may require some moderate lifting up to 23kg, bending, walking and working in various types of outdoor conditions
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as/when required
Must have Grade 12 education, GED diploma, or approved apprenticeship completion, as required to register for courses leading to certification
