ABOUT THE TEAM
The Shipping and Receiving team plays a vital role in supporting RRC Polytech`s operations through the effective coordination of shipping, receiving, mail services, and internal distribution across campus locations. The team is responsible for the accurate, reliable, and efficient receipt, handling, storage, and delivery of supplies, equipment, materials, and food products that support institutional operations. Committed to service excellence, operational efficiency, and responsible inventory practices, the team works collaboratively with academic, research, administrative, and culinary departments to support teaching, research, student learning, and day-to-day campus activities. The Shipping and Receiving team also maintains accurate documentation and inventory transactions within the institution’s ERP system to support accountability and operational continuity.
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing shipments, coordinating the internal distribution of supplies, equipment, and food products, and processing and distributing mail. This role supports institutional operations by ensuring the accurate receipt, handling, storage, and timely delivery of materials and food items to academic, research, administrative, and culinary departments. The position also maintains accurate records and transactions within the institution’s ERP system.
 
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Shipping/Receiving experience, or a combination of warehouse related experience
  • Experience using ERP or warehouse management systems
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when verifying shipment documentation, performing inventory reconciliation, or updating records.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, particularly related to shipment discrepancies, damaged goods, or inventory variances.
  • Experience receiving, inspecting, storing, and distributing inventory, general materials, and food in accordance with inventory control procedures, standards, and storage requirements.
  • Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal departments, service providers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to handle inquiries, resolve issues related to shipments or deliveries, and provide timely, accurate information to internal departments and external partners
  • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, pallet wrappers, and hand trucks
  • Proficient with MS Office suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of TDG, WHMIS, and safe handling procedures

  • Salary Range for this position:  $39,754 - $56,040 per annum
  • Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may be required to work overtime
  • Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check
  • Incumbent must hold a valid class 5 driver`s license
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
  • Incumbent must be physically capable of performing the Duties and Responsibilities of the position including the ability to lift/move up to 50lbs/23kg
