Position Overview:
We are seeking an Associate Asset Advisor to join our Asset Lifecycle Management Department. Under the direction of Team Leads and the Lifecycle Value Optimization Section Head, the Associate Asset Advisor will be responsible for coordination of asset lifecycle activities for assigned equipment and infrastructure, maintenance of the asset inventory information, facilitation of the decision-making process, and coordination of input into the asset investment plan for all assigned asset classes. The Associate Asset Advisor will also promote asset management best practices, and support alignment of asset life-cycle activities with corporate business objectives across all energy streams.

Responsibilities:
  • Minimize asset life cycle costs for prescribed levels of performance and risk by developing and maintaining whole life cost models. 
  • Support the management of the asset needs inventory including vetting and prioritization of all incoming work to Asset Management, and initiating new investments.
  • Support the development of the Asset Management capital portfolio which includes determining investment scope, alternatives and schedules.
  • Support the execution of Asset Class Strategy Program activities by gathering input from Subject Matter Experts and coordinating the completion of key deliverables.
  • Facilitate project teams as the SME to evaluate all capital project alternatives with the Corporate Value Framework.
  • Participate on project teams by facilitating a consistent and quantitative decision-making process in all phases of projects and approvals, ensuring alignment with global objective and inclusion of evidence, review and recommendation of scope change requests, and review of deficiency list and completion certificate.
  • Assess the risks of failure of all assets by evaluating asset condition assessments and indexing to support asset decision making.
  • Support the quantitative decision-making process through collection of evidence, enlistment and interpretation of diverse subject matter expert perspectives, defining the value of the decision using the Corporate Value Framework, appropriate treatment of uncertainty and risk, and ensuring investment value is adequately and consistently identified.
  • Support the development and provide input to business and Asset Management tools, best practices and processes through liaising with internal and external asset management individuals, areas, and organizations and support implementation at a divisional level.
  • Maintain relations with Design, Operations, Maintenance, Project Management, Resource Planning, Plant, Finance, and other groups within and outside of the division for the purposes of information sharing and team alignment.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of six years of related experience having obtained three years of this experience in maintenance, design, construction, or commissioning of assets. Preference will be given to Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a specified amount of time).
  • Advanced knowledge of assets including the design, operation, reliability, compliance requirements, maintenance practices, and modes of failure.  Initial focus will be electrical type assets but will be required to work with other asset types as necessary including and not limited to Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Gas type assets.
  • Knowledge of the quantification of risk and benefits, and application to decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of Asset Management best practices, policies.
  • Knowledge of investment portfolio planning and project management processes.
  • Working knowledge in application and use of business systems including but not limited to Copperleaf, SAP, ANT, EAM, TGIS and RMS and others related to portfolio planning and asset management.
  • Working knowledge in maintenance and condition assessment processes related to asset management.
  • Exposure to various engineering disciplines, equipment technology and operations.
  • Expert knowledge in predictive analytics.
  • The IAM Certificate would be considered an asset.  
  • Knowledge of systems where asset condition records are found would be an asset.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of corporate policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current Personal Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy P513.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.

Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $48.74-$67.29 Hourly, $93,398.24-$128,947.78 Annually.
