Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Operator Driver to fill a permanent full-time position in the Thompson Customer Service Centre to operate a variety of equipment used to perform Customer requested and maintenance service work to the Customer Service Centre's distribution and sub-transmission systems. This will also include operating and maintaining self-propelled vehicles and auxiliary implements and perform other related duties within the Customer Service Centre. Will haul all types of apparatus, material and equipment, use and operate light and heavy lifting devices and load/unload material, equipment and apparatus.

Responsibilities:
  • Will be required to assist the digger truck operator in the removal and installation of poles, anchors, transformers, street light standards and bases in urban and rural distribution systems.
  • Haul and handle poles, wire, material and related tools as required.
  • Will be required to operate equipment such as the following:
    - Radial Boom Digger
    - Skid Steer/Pole Handler
    - Track Mobile/Snowmobile
    - Stake Deck and Dump Body
    - ATV and UTV
  • Perform minor repairs and lubrication on assigned machines and implements.
  • Required to direct and train junior staff.
  • Operate and maintain assigned vehicles in accordance with Highway Traffic Act regulations and Manitoba Hydro Standards.
  • Will be required to work in various locations throughout the above noted Customer Service Centre and the Eastman Department as required utilizing various modes of transportation. 
  • May be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the CSC maintenance buckets and tools.
  • May be required to act as the alternate for the digger truck operator in their absence.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Grade 10 education plus completion of Operator Driver II schools and one year of experience as an Operator Driver I.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Safety.
  • Possess the necessary experience to operate equipment assigned to the classification.
  • Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence Class 3 with air brake endorsement.
  • Possess or will be required to obtain a Manitoba Hydro Equipment Operator's Permit appropriate to the equipment to be operated.
  • Familiar with and adhere to policies, practices and standards that affect the operation of the CSC, including Life Saving Rules, Worker Protection Code, Safe Work Procedures and the IBEW collective agreement. 
  • Working knowledge of computer applications required including eGIS, MWM, Outlook, etc. 
  • Physically capable of performing all the duties of the position.
  • Thorough knowledge in practices of handling, securing and hauling heavy equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of the equipment in its use and service requirements.
  • Possess an approved set of personal hand tools.
  • Have the ability to work harmoniously and cooperate with fellow employees and customers. 
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $27.53-$37.04 Hourly, $52,744.38-$70,968.04 Annually.
