Duties:
Establishes work priorities, schedules, and assigns tasks to ensure continuity of workflow. Directs and schedules operators in a prioritized manner to mobilize equipment and materials across the Province of Manitoba in support of client programs. Assists employees in completing tasks and ensures that quality and productivity standards are met.
Provides technical guidance to Senior Tradespeople and shop staff regarding repair methods, equipment operation, servicing, and maintenance techniques. Ensures that work orders are properly prepared for all shop activities, accurately logged, and appropriately filed, with all data correctly compiled and entered.
Ensures the effective implementation of preventative maintenance programs by monitoring equipment operations and arranging inspections at appropriate intervals. Promotes and enforces safe and healthy work practices among all personnel and conducts discussions with employees regarding their work performance.

Several years of supervisory or administration experience, including evaluating work of subordinates, providing formal and informal feedback, coaching and mentoring.
Extensive experience as a heavy duty and or truck/trailer mechanic, in the areas of diagnostic, repair and maintenance of highway construction and maintenance equipment, including hydraulic and air brake systems, power trains, electrical and hydraulic systems
Experience using a computerized equipment management system to manage preventive maintenance program and vehicle safety certification program.
Ability to work independently
Experience with software programs such Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Mitchell Labour Estimating
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work co-operatively and constructively as part of a team
Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally
Strong written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance conflicting priorities and tight deadlines

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic license OR Truck Transport Mechanic Certification
Valid Class 5 driver's licence with the ability to upgrade to a Class 3 with air endorsement
