ABOUT THE TEAM
Information Technology Solutions (ITS) partners with the Polytech community to deliver reliable, secure, and innovative technology services that support teaching, learning, research, and administrative operations. Our team is committed to service excellence, continuous improvement, and user‑centred design; ensuring technology is dependable, accessible, and aligned with institutional priorities. From frontline support to enterprise systems and infrastructure, ITS works collaboratively to enable a modern digital campus and empower students, staff, and faculty to succeed.
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Infrastructure Support Specialist will support academic computing environments that are critical to course delivery. This role provides direct support to instructors and students across simulation, virtual, and physical workstation environments, helping to enable high‑quality academic delivery and support student success. 
 
The successful candidates will ensure the reliability, sustainability, and consistent operation of specialized environments used for teaching while working with the Information Technology Solutions team to maintain alignment to institutional standards. These positions play a key role in maintaining modern, robust academic computing environments that align with evolving instructional needs. 
 
The Infrastructure Support Specialist will report to the Infrastructure Systems Manager under the Information Technology Solutions department.  This role is strengthening and standardizing technical support for the institution’s teaching and learning environment while improving service consistency, sustainability, and resilience.
 
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • ​Diploma in a related field such as computer science, or information technology or a combination of education and experience that shows a depth of experience in endpoint systems​
  • ​​Experience  of hands on experience in a medium to large organization administering, supporting and maintaining client computing (Windows OS, endpoint systems) as part of an enterprise client computing team; OR a reasonable combination of support and administrative experience considering length of tenure, scope of experience, and organization size that shows an ability to contribute independently across all aspects of data systems in a large organization
  • ​​Demonstrated support of virtual desktops, simulation platforms, and specialized academic software​
  • ​​Ability to build, image, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers​
  • ​​Diagnoses hardware, software, and environment issues; applies structured troubleshooting techniques​
  • ​​Follows security practices related to Identity and Access Management, data, and academic systems​
  • ​​A demonstrated history of maintaining currency of knowledge and certifications through ongoing education and professional development​
  • ​​Demonstrated ability to Log, track, and resolve issues using an ITSM system and follow defined support processes and escalation paths​
  • ​​Demonstrates a service‑focused mindset with empathy for student and instructor needs​
  • ​​Contributes to technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles​
  • ​​Adapts to evolving technologies and demonstrates willingness to learn new platforms​
  • ​​Demonstrated ability to provide technical expertise to faculty, staff and students, including training and guidance​
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
 
NICE TO HAVE
  • Ability to support and troubleshoot AI applications and platforms used within the institution
  • Ability to use AI tools to support operations
  • ​​General Knowledge of applied Project Management practices to effectively participate in project teams.​
  • ​​ITIL Certification (v3 or above)​
  • ​​Advanced certifications and related certifications in client computing management and administration is an asset​
  • ​​Experience using mobile device management (e.g. Intune)​
  • ​​Remote Desktop support experience​

  • Salary Range for this position:  $64,014 - $90,272 per annum
  • Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
  • December Break: employees receive time off with pay during the period between Boxing Day and New Year's Day
