ABOUT THE TEAM
Our Sport and Fitness team is dedicated to creating a welcoming, accessible, and energizing environment for everyone who walks through our doors. Guided by the Sport and Fitness Supervisor, our Gym Clerks play a key role in shaping that experience. They are the first friendly faces our community meets—greeting visitors at the Customer Service Desk, answering questions in person and by phone, and helping users access equipment and services with ease.
 
Gym Clerks support the flow of daily activity in our fitness spaces by offering facility tours, assisting with event set‑ups, and helping ensure that our rules and etiquette are followed respectfully. Above all, the team is committed to fostering an inclusive atmosphere where students, staff, and visitors feel respected, supported, and safe. WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting to the Sport and Fitness Supervisor the Gym Clerk provides customer service and performs facility-related duties at campus fitness facilities. The Gym Clerk primarily works at the Customer Service Desk, welcoming facility users, processing equipment loans, and responding to inquiries in person or over the phone. The Clerk may also provide facility tours, monitor adherence to rules and etiquette, and assist with event-related set-up. Contributing to an inclusive environment, the Gym Clerk ensures a welcoming, accessible, respectful and safe environment for staff, students and visitors.
 
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Experience providing excellent customer service
  • Experience working in a sports and recreation facility and/or Familiarity with fitness and recreation equipment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including telephone etiquette
  • Available to work a variety of shift times
  • Able to lift/move over 50 lbs
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
 
NICE TO HAVE
  • A valid and current CPR Certificate or be willing to obtain
  • A valid and current First Aid Certificate or being willing to obtain

  • Salary Range for this position:  $17.44 - $24.59 hourly
  • Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year.
