The Opportunity
Aboriginal Community Campus is seeking a passionate and student focused Teacher to join our team Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. This position provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting Indigenous adult learners in achieving their educational, personal, and career goals. The successful candidate will create a welcoming and culturally responsive learning environment that promotes student success, wellness, and lifelong learning while fostering strong connections with families, communities and support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare lessons and homework assignments according to an approved curriculum.
- Prepare, administer and correct tests.
- Teach students through lectures, open discussions, audio-video presentations as needed; prepare resources for classroom discussion when necessary.
- Research information to ensure curriculum is current.
- Identify the needs of individual students, and work to help each student develop his or her potential.
- Meet with students to confer and provide feedback with regards to their work.
- Provide students with various evaluation opportunities for success.
- Identify emotional, intellectual, physical, and/or any other issues which may be hindering the student from learning to his or her best potential, and recommend appropriate course of action.
- Present a professional yet caring demeanor at all times towards students and staff.
- Plan, coordinate and participate in school and student activities.
Experience
- Valid Manitoba Provincial Teaching Certificate
- 1 – 2 years of experience is considered an asset however not required.
- Experience working with Indigenous students or community support programs.
- Experience supporting individuals facing educational, personal or social barriers.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create inclusive, student-cantered learning environments.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learning needs
- Demonstrated innovative curriculum delivery and experiential learning approaches.
- Knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous cultures, values and communities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, community partners and staff.

NETES requires a clear and satisfactory Criminal Record Check before employment begins. All checks must be dated within three (3) months of the start date.
