Position Overview:
We are seeking a Project Manager to join our Project Management Centre of Expertise Department. Under the general direction of the Manager of Project Management Centre of Expertise, the Wind Project Manager will provide strategic leadership and have overall responsibility for project management requirements from the planning phase through closure for enterprise projects, such as the implementation of Wind Power. The Wind Project Manager will collaborate across the enterprise in order to align with overall corporate strategies and the Affordable Provincial Energy Plan.
Responsibilities:
- Direct activities and assignments and supervise the performance of project staff responsible for managing all phases of linear infrastructure (transmission, distribution, and/or gas) capital projects and call for wind power, including planning, environmental licencing and property requirements, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and project close-out.
- Interested Party Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Independent Power, Grid Infrastructure Planning, Indigenous Relations, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Assessment, Enterprise Resource Planning, Legal, Communications, Executive leadership, etc.), external partners, and regulatory bodies to gather requirements and ensure project alignment.
- Provide expertise in the field of Project Management. Plan, develop, and deliver a project execution plan and key project management deliverables across multiple business units as they relate to corporate investments.
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to project team staff in the management of project controls, project estimates, technical scope of work, and schedule.
- Monitor project participants' progress and hold parties accountable for initiating and/or adhering to the technical scope of the work, the project schedule, and the approved budget.
- Responsible for establishing a risk management plan and project contingency allowance based on risk impact assessment and managing funds accordingly.
- Reporting: Prepare regular progress reports for team and senior management, highlighting key milestones, challenges, and performance.
- Change Management: Manage deviations to the technical scopes of work, project estimates, and schedules, and form recommendations on how to deal with their impacts.
- Resource Management: Regularly liaise with section heads and managers throughout the enterprise to communicate capital project priorities, ensure resource allocation to meet these priorities, and maintain knowledge of long-term requirements.
- Support project governance structure that empowers and enables project managers and teams and effectively solves problems.
Qualifications:
- Graduate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering from a university of recognized standing, with a minimum of seven years of related experience, of which five years of experience must have been in project management and administration, plus one year of additional training directly related to the position;
OR - A four-year degree, plus eight years of related experience in project management and administration, plus three project management courses;
OR - A diploma, plus ten years of related experience in project management, plus three project management courses.
- Courses in leadership and/or PMP designation and/or training will be considered an asset.
- Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a specified amount of time), if applicable.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- Familiar with fundamentals of all related engineering disciplines.
- Experience related to projects associated with transmission facilities and operations would be an asset.
- Experience related to projects associated with significant equipment upgrades or replacements would be an asset.
- Good computer skills, including experience with scheduling software and the Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Mature judgement and proven ability to carry out assigned duties with minimal direction and supervision.
- Thorough knowledge of corporate policies, procedures, and regulations, including Corporate Safety & Environmental policies and the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and associated regulations.
- Demonstrated ability in providing mature leadership and delegating authority related to planning, organizing, and motivating the activities of a group of engineers and technical support staff.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain harmonious working relationships and interact effectively with others at all levels, both inside and outside the enterprise.
- Demonstrated high degree of initiative and ability to interact effectively with others at all levels, both inside and outside the enterprise.
- Must obtain and maintain a current Personal Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy P513.
- Possess and maintain a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $57.62-$78.94 Hourly, $110,417.06-$151,272.42 Annually.
