Position Overview:
Under the general direction of the Stations Projects Management Section Head or Project Manager, initiate, plan, execute, and close-out assigned (distribution, station, transmission, HVDC and other) Group III capital projects & program items (less than $5M). Provide project management support to assigned project managers of Group II ($5M - $25M) and Group I (greater than $25M or strategic) projects. In all aspects of your work, demonstrate Manitoba Hydro's C.A.R.E. principles (Collaborate, Align, Reimagine, Empower).
Responsibilities:
General
- Serve as overall champion for project delivery through all phases for projects that you are leading.
- Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships across the enterprise.
- Engage with project participants to facilitate project execution and to overcome obstacles to project progress including escalating issues as required.
- Hold project team members accountable to their commitments.
- Demonstrate an eagerness to understand the projects in which you are participating.
Initiate Capital Projects
- Lead or support the development of and submit requests for capital project approvals – Capital Investment Justifications (CIJs).
Plan Capital Projects
- Develop or support the development of capital project plans, including all related Project Management Division (PMD) checklist items, including among others: Project Charters, Project Execution Plans, Communication Plans, RACI Matrices, Schedules, Budgets, Risk Matrices, etc.
- As required to protect project schedules, lead or support the development of Long Lead Procurement Recommendations.
- Lead or support Project Kick-Off meetings.
Execute Capital Projects
- Lead or support project communication, and other project meetings.
- Monitor and control project scopes, schedules, budgets, and cashflows.
- Provide or contribute to monthly project progress and financial reports, including variance explanations.
- Lead or support the project change management process.
- Lead or support material and/or service procurements as required, liaise with project team members to ensure timely receipt of deliverables.
- Lead or support Lessons-Learned meetings at the completion of each project execution phase.
Close-Out Capital Projects
- Ensure all project activities, including trailing activities (invoice payments, contract closures, as-built drawings, deficiency resolutions, etc.) are complete.
- Complete or contribute to project close-out checklists and confirm closure of the related capital investments.
Qualifications:
- A two-year Technology Diploma in Technology from an educational institution of recognized standing plus completion of three accredited courses in project management and a minimum of four years related experience.
OR - Completion of a Project Management Certificate plus four accredited courses in project management and a minimum of five years' related experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles, and related tools including SAP/PS, Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems such as SAP PS module, including the development of cash flows, resource and cost estimates and project monitoring/reporting is considered an asset.
- Experience related to projects associated with transmission, distribution, HVDC or natural gas plant operation as it relates to design, construction and commissioning activities would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the design and construction of transmission and distribution facilities with complete knowledge of the "building blocks" required to design, construct and commission such facilities are considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels, both internal and external to the corporation, both orally and in writing.
- Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $39.18 - $54.24 Hourly, $75,083.06 - $103.932.92 Annually.
