Duties:
The Senior Consultant, Network Technologies is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of Network Services and related infrastructure across both agency and customer-owned environments. The position requires staying current with emerging technologies and proactively addressing potential issues through strategic planning and mitigation. The incumbent will collaborate with team members on various projects involving client networks, MERLIN’s network services, and consulting engagements.
This position works in-office at 135 Innovative Drive in Winnipeg.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or other related field and a minimum of four years of IT Consulting and Hosted Service management.
Experience with a broad range of IT infrastructure technologies, including VMware, Hyper-V, Arista, Aruba, NFS, iSCSI, Cisco, DNS, MPLS, VXLAN, IPv4, and IPv6.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively and professionally respond to customer needs and concerns.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
Strong written communication skills with the ability to write technical documents including solution architecture documents and architectural maps.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate to different levels of the organization.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong collaboration skills and a cooperative working style.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong technical expertise in network services design, architecture, and implementation, including solid knowledge of BGP and other routing protocols.
Desired:
Knowledge of network monitoring tools such as SNMP, Cacti, Observium, SmokePing, PerfSonar, or similar tools.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP).
