Victims of Family Violence Project Coordinator

• Circling Buffalo Inc., First Nation Women Shelters

Summary and purpose of Job:
The proposal-driven project entitled "Improving the Quality of Life" will look to provide short-term, crisis intervention mental health counseling to victims of violence through community based programming, to support the improvement of health care services for victims of violence so that they are easily accessible, linked across disciplines (such as health, justice, social services, etc.) and are trauma informed and culturally competent. Mental Health services will be provided by First Nations and Inuit Health Branch list of therapists.

Roles of Project Coordinator would include:
• Coordinate all activities and travel related to providing mental health therapy to First Nation Women Shelters. Length of stay to be determined by the Mental Health Therapist(s) and project management based on the need of the particular crisis.
• Coordinate scheduled mental health services to First Nation communities including Fisher River, Hollow Water, Keeseekoowenin, Mathias Colomb, Nelson House, Norway House, Shamattawa and Sapotaweyak Cree Nation.
• Provide written monthly status reports.
• Work closely with shelter directors and shelter liaison.
• Periodically provide administrative support to other members of staff under the advice and approval of the Executive Director.

• Communication, Team Work, Quality Orientation, Time Management
• Has above average interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate flexibility, creativity and organizational skills
• Good networking skills, coaching and leadership abilities
• Excellent computer skills specifically Microsoft 365
• Some knowledge of mental health issues
• General office procedures/practice
• Ability to speak a First Nations Language an asset, but not a requirement

Conditions of employment:
• Must pass a criminal record and a child abuse registry check
• Must be able and willing to travel (Drivers' Abstract required)
• Ability to work evenings, weekends - over time as required
• Employee must sign a confidential and non-disclosure agreement upon employment
• Reports to the Executive Director
