Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Fixed Asset Supervisor, this position will be responsible for a variety of complex functions including: providing guidance and support to other team members; performing month end processing for fixed assets and capital expenditures; developing and maintaining fixed asset accounting and reporting  systems; ensuring fixed asset costs are accurately captured in the appropriate depreciation accounts; preparing yearend analytics including notes to the audited financial statements; analyzing and reconciling fixed asset, intangible asset and contribution accounts; identifying opportunities for process and system improvements and assisting with implementation and responding to PUB information requests.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance and become a subject matter expert for the various capital processes including representation on committees for projects and capital process improvements.
  • Provide direction and guidance to other team members on a multitude of monthly and ad hoc tasks.
  • Understand and provide guidance to other staff as to the proper WBS structure in SAP as it is linked to the creation of assets.
  • Understand and provide guidance to other staff as to the application of the Asset Accounting handbook and the implications to depreciation and amortization expense.
  • Prepare the notes to the audited financial statements related to depreciation expense, intangible assets, and non-refundable contributions, including supporting working papers for external auditors and responding to audit queries.
  • Assist in the preparation of schedules and analysis of material for General Rate Application hearings including preliminary filing submissions and subsequent responses.
  • Analyze and reconcile accounts for tangible and intangible assets, contributions, depreciation, and amortization.
  • Identify, develop, and recommend process/system improvements for the department as well as participate in process improvement teams.
  • Provide support as required in planning and executing accurate and timely month end processing for asset accounting functions, including creating and maintaining capital assets in SAP, calculating and posting retirements, processing month-end settlement of sales orders, CS orders, networks and WBS elements and addressing any problems that are identified.
  • Provide back-up support to analyze, prepare, post, and reconcile inter-company journals related to asset accounting.
  • Provide back-up support for the monthly calculation of depreciation/amortization of capital and intangible assets and contributions.
  • Provide back-up support for the monthly maintenance of the SQL asset accounting data base used for reporting.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of the Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) program.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize, investigate, and analyze problems and objectively discuss, present, and justify recommendations.
  • Possess a high degree of initiative, with the proven ability to work independently under broad guidelines and minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrated team player exhibiting a high degree of integrity, creativity, and sound judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain good customer relations.
  • Knowledgeable of the policies and practices documented in the Asset Accounting handbook.
  • Demonstrated ability to model the positive actions that enhance the operations of a service group. 

Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $40.44-$55.99 Hourly, $77,500.02-$107,279.64 Annually.
