WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Diploma with a focus on Journalism or Public Relations or Degree in a communications-related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Demonstrated experience leading the development and execution of comprehensive internal and external communication strategies that align with and advance organizational strategic priorities
- Experience managing sensitive and confidential communications issues, including complex change initiatives, under tight and competing deadlines
- Knowledge and experience in issues and change management communications, including advising leaders on best practices
- Demonstrated experience acting as an organizational spokesperson, including managing media inquiries, preparing responses, and coaching academic and senior leaders for effective media engagement
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a large organization and with external partners, including media and industry stakeholders, to support strategic communications initiatives
- Experience providing strategic communications advice for events, media interviews, and speaking engagements, including developing speaking notes, briefing materials, and scenario-based documents
- Demonstrated success driving earned media strategies, including planning news conferences or media events and maintaining strong, responsive relationships with journalists
- Proven ability to assess, analyze, and improve communications practices, including developing and implementing new strategies, tools, and deliverables to meet the needs of diverse stakeholder groups
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with experience producing high-quality communications across multiple platforms for varied audiences
- Demonstrated ability to develop communications strategies and support materials that enhance internal awareness, engagement, and understanding of organizational initiatives
- Proven ability to use storytelling and visual communications approaches to showcase impact, outcomes, and progress toward strategic goals
- Demonstrated ability to quickly understand and communicate complex subject matter, managing competing priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

- Salary Range for this position: $65,975 - $92,986 per annum
- Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
- December Break: employees receive time off with pay during the period between Boxing Day and New Year's Day
