Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Corporate Security Manager, the Supervisor, Corporate Physical Security is responsible for leading, developing, implementing, and maintaining physical security policies and compliance programs across the corporation.
The Supervisor provides direction, oversight, and expert guidance to members, cross-functional teams and user groups in the design, documentation and implementation of procedural and technical security solutions, ensuring optimal security practices are followed.
Responsibilities:
- Lead in the creation, development, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of enterprise Physical Security policies, standards, programs, and procedures to safeguard personnel, assets, information, and critical infrastructure.
- Provide strategic oversight and subject matter expertise to ensure physical security systems, controls, and processes align with NERC CIP requirements, corporate standards, and regulatory obligations.
- Lead, conduct and document enterprise threat, vulnerability, and risk assessments of corporate facilities, operational sites, and critical infrastructure, recommending risk-based mitigation strategies and security enhancements.
- Direct the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of physical security technologies, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, and perimeter security systems.
- Collaborate with Cyber Security, Operations, Facilities, Emergency Management, and external stakeholders to integrate security requirements into business operations and strengthen organizational resilience.
- Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, and professional development to assigned staff, fostering a high-performing team focused on operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the enterprise's primary physical security subject matter expert, providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and specialized advice on security-related matters while supporting enterprise objectives through the effective management of emerging risks, compliance requirements, and security initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Four-year bachelor's degree majoring in Criminal Justice, Criminology or related discipline plus five years of experience in physical security, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities;
OR - Two-year diploma in a relevant discipline with a Criminology related focus plus seven years of experience in physical security, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Incident Command System (ICS), or equivalent highly desirable.
- Deep knowledge of critical infrastructure protection, regulatory compliance, and utility operations.
- Working knowledge of NERC CIP Standards.
- Advanced knowledge of GENETEC physical protection systems, including access control, security systems, and facility hardening specifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively and confidentially with all levels of the Corporation.
- Demonstrated supervisory and project management skills, including estimating schedules, budgets, and directing contractors and employees.
- Ability to travel within the province as required.
- Valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.
- Must meet requirements to obtain/hold a Government of Canada Secret Clearance.
- Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy P513.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $48.74-$67.29 Hourly, $93,398.24-$128,947.78 Annually.
