• Review, clarify and approve customer and consultant DER service applications, and perform required studies.
• Participate and lead complex studies to develop requirements for design, planning, protection, performance, and operations.
• Undertake and seal designs and prepare drawings, material review, estimates, and specifications for projects related to DER proposals.  
• Provide training, guidance and development of staff in areas of DER subject matter expertise.
• Develop and specify commissioning procedures for DER systems and participate in their commissioning.
• Maintain the technical relevancy of the DER standards, facilitating updates with stakeholders and supporting departments.
• Employ project management techniques in keeping with the Project Management Body of Knowledge to ensure effectively delivered projects.
• Incorporate safety fundamentals in the design process using Human Error Reduction and Risk Management techniques developed by Corporate Safety.
• Represent the department on external and internal distribution system related committees, working groups and research & development projects.

• Graduate in Electrical/Computer Engineering from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of six years' experience in related utility work covering visibility, automation, reliability, protection, generation, procurement and commissioning, including a minimum of two years' experience directing others. 
• Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a specified amount of time).
• Demonstrated leadership in planning, organizing, and motivating technical support staff. 
• Demonstrated knowledge and practice of Distribution system, DER interconnection requirements, planning, and protection criteria. 
• Demonstrated experience and skill managing large projects using recognized project management skills.
• Demonstrated experience and skill employing lean and critical thinking skills to improve processes and procedures. 
• Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Province of Manitoba Motor Vehicle Driver's Licence.
