ABOUT THE TEAM
The Information Technology Solutions (ITS) team at RRC Polytech is a trusted partner to students, instructors, and staff across the college. We deliver responsive, people-centered technology services that enable teaching, learning, and operational excellence. From rapid, friendly support at the Service Desk to specialized, hands-on expertise from our Client Services team, we ensure everyone has the tools, access, and guidance they need to work efficiently and securely. WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Service Desk Technician provides first-point-of-contact IT support to the College community, ensuring timely, professional, and effective resolution of technical issues across in-person, phone, and online channels.
 
This role is responsible for accurately triaging incoming requests, resolving Tier 1 issues using established procedures and knowledge resources, and ensuring seamless escalation when required.
As a key part of the ITS Client Services team, the position contributes to a high-quality support experience that enables teaching, learning, and administrative operations across the College.
 
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Diploma in Information Technology or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
  • Experience in an IT customer service or Service Desk environment supporting end users
  • Experience providing front-line support for enterprise IT services, including Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive), user account support, connectivity (wired/wireless), file sharing (OneDrive, SharePoint, and network drives), common business applications, and print support
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting Windows-based devices in an Active Directory and/or Azure environment, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals
  • Experience using an IT Service Management (ITSM) system to log, track, and update incidents and service requests with accurate documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues using structured problem-solving and standard procedures
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse user base
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on clear, concise, and accurate documentation
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
 
NICE TO HAVE
  • Ability to support and troubleshoot AI applications and platforms used within the institution
  • Industry-recognized certifications (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Cisco, etc.)
  • Experience supporting specialized environments such as computer labs, shared workstations, or point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • Experience supporting Apple macOS devices in an enterprise environment
  • Experience supporting Microsoft server and infrastructure technologies (e.g., Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, Exchange or Microsoft 365 services)
  • Experience with endpoint management, imaging, or device deployment tools (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, or similar solutions)

  • Salary Range for this position:  $49,595 - $69,838 per annum
  • Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year.   • December Break: employees receive time off with pay during the period between Boxing Day and New Year's Day
