ABOUT THE TEAM
Facility Management at RRC Polytech is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of campus buildings and infrastructure across multiple sites. The team supports over 2 million square feet of facilities, including academic, research, and support spaces.
 
The Exchange District Campus presents unique operational requirements, including heritage buildings, complex mechanical systems, and high utilization of instructional spaces. This role supports maintaining these environments to ensure a safe and functional learning and working environment.
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Plumber is responsible for efficient and sustainable operation of all plumbing-related systems at all Red River College campuses. The incumbent should be able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and specifications to install, assemble, repair, program, and/or remove plumbing, heating, and cooling equipment: such as boilers, pipes, fittings, pumps, water lines, hot water tanks, fixtures, make-up air units, furnaces, drainage systems, etc.  In addition to corrective maintenance, the incumbent will be responsible to regularly inspect systems for any damage, malfunctions, and safety hazards, communicate findings to their supervisor and create an efficient plan to repair  or replace.
 
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Red Seal Journeyman Plumber Certificate
  • City of Winnipeg electrical contractors license
  • Back flow device preventer license
  • Several years’ experience in a commercial setting
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes and standards
  • Ability to read and interpret campus maps, engineered drawings, blue prints, electrical schematics or other basic drawings
  • Ability to pull permits in the City of Winnipeg
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and special procedures applicable to the work. Observes safety regulations and safe work practices
  • Ability to assemble, install, and repair fittings, fixtures, and piping connected to water, sewer, steam and air supplies, and maintain associated control systems
  • Ability to clean and maintain grease interceptors and sanitary drain systems
  • Qualification to Inspect, test and repair back flow preventers
  • Ability to periodically, consult on or direct plumbing work being performed by outside contractors, or consultants and will ensure that all work, whether done internally or by outside contractors, conforms to all applicable codes and bylaws
  • Complete and maintain tasks assign to them through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Have Knowledge and experience to assist the HVAC/R Mechanic operate and maintain HAVC systems where required
  • Perform renovations and small job estimates, including planning, material lists, organizing material and labor on site
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

  • Salary Range for this position:  $72,800 - $102,606 per annum

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Incumbent must hold a valid class 5 driver`s license
  • Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
  • This position is subject to audiometric assessments
