ABOUT THE TEAM
The Cybersecurity program is part of RRC Polytech's Applied Computer Education offerings, delivering both online and on-campus learning to students building careers in Information Technology. This instructor role reports to the Chair, Applied Computer Education (ACE) Project Space. The team is committed to hands-on, industry-relevant education in cyber and information security. Instructors collaborate closely to keep curriculum current, support peer learning, and maintain high-quality lab experiences. The department values technical excellence alongside strong communication and intercultural competency, and is actively committed to Truth and Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in all aspects of its work.
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting to the Chair of Applied Computer Education (ACE) Project Space, the Instructor, Cyber Security will support Cyber Security students through applied learning, supervised project work, and practical skills development within the ACE Project Space. The Instructor will teach and support online, blended, and on-campus learning activities for Applied Computer Education programs, with a focus on cyber security, cyber defense, security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, cloud and network security, AI-enabled security practices, and related applied cyber security topics.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, current knowledge of cyber security and IT operations practices, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible learning experiences. Strong communication, mentorship, collaboration, and intercultural skills are required to support students in a diverse, hands-on, and blended learning environment. The instructor will identify opportunities for continuous improvement, promote a collaborative and inclusive learning culture, and demonstrate a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in decision-making, teaching practice, student support, and interactions with others. WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Information Security Diploma or Certification or equivalent; a combination of education and recent, relevant experience may be considered
  • Industry experience working in Cyber or Information Security
  • Experience working in Security Operations or Information Security service delivery
  • Experience with SIEM, incident response and threat hunting
  • Experience with Customer Experience and User experience philosophies and practices
  • Experience with project documentation and technical writing
  • Experience with work with multiple clients 
  • Experience with various security or IT infrastructure
  • Experience with IT Service Management philosophies and practices
  • Experience with Agile Project Management
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

  • Ability to use AI tools to support operations
  • Knowledge of AI-related data, security, and privacy practices

  • Salary Range for this position:  $67,069 - $105,146 per annum
  • Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
