Position Overview:
We are looking for a permanent Utilityworker to join our Transmission Stations Operations & Maintenance Winnipeg Department.
Responsibilities:
- Under the general direction of the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor, is responsible for the cleaning and general upkeep of all Stations and performs a variety of duties of a semi-skilled nature within the TSO&M Winnipeg boundaries.
- In conjunction with the work center Electrical Maintenance Supervisor monitor and coordinate snow clearing, grass cutting and pest control in the TSO&M area. May be responsible for payment for services to various contractors for services.
- Evaluate the condition of the heating, air conditioning, plumbing and sewer system (including septic systems), well water system (pumps, water softeners, etc.) and recommend action as required. Perform some basic maintenance to these systems.
- Required to perform general cleaning and inspections of Stations with washroom facilities, metal-clads and buildings without washroom facilities (mopping, sweeping, garbage removal, snow shoveling, restocking washroom/Station facilities, etc,) as well as Station property and yards in a timely manner.
- Perform minor building/yard repairs such as painting, drywall, door/window, roof, fence/gate, cable tray repairs, as well as landscaping.
- Perform Station readings such as water meter, cable pressures, etc.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Will be required to accompany contractors working in TSO&M Winnipeg Stations to ensure safe working practices are followed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent.
- Minimum of one-year related experience.
- Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy P513.
- Demonstrated ability to act responsibly as a safety watcher within Manitoba Hydro Stations.
- Demonstrated responsibility and ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated fiscal responsibility when dealing with contractor payments for work completed.
- Should have a general knowledge of Electrical Substations, plumbing, sewer and building construction.
- Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with customers, contractors and co-workers.
- Possess valid certification in First Aid and CPR training.
- Physically fit and capable of performing all duties of the position working under adverse weather conditions, temperatures, heights and emergency conditions.
- Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence with appropriate class.
Notes/Comments:
- Depending on operational requirements, primary work locations could be 1330 Pacific Ave or 1370 Sony Place of which both are in the Winnipeg Headquarters zone.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $23.27-$33.36 Hourly, $44,594.42-$63,925.94 Annually.
