The Centre for Newcomer Integration (CNI) is seeking a Navigation Coach to support newcomer students enrolled in language programs. This role serves as a welcoming point of contact, helping students navigate the supports and services they need to be successful in their language training.
The Centre for Newcomer Integration (CNI) is seeking a Navigation Coach to support newcomer students enrolled in language programs. This role serves as a welcoming point of contact, helping students navigate the supports and services they need to be successful in their language training.
The Navigation Coach enhances newcomer student success and retention by providing guidance, referrals, and support to newcomer students at CNI, connecting students with culturally relevant supports, services and resources, and coordinating student‑focused engagement activities that strengthen belonging, social connection, and participation in the CNI learning community. The incumbent will build and maintain relationships with community organizations supporting newcomer integration (settlement agencies, cultural associations, employment services).
Acting as a resource to faculty, staff, and external partners on newcomer student needs, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential student files, case notes, program records, and data tracking systems.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- A university degree in a relevant field of study, preferably Community Development, Social Sciences, Education or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Experience working directly with newcomers, including assessing needs and providing timely, appropriate support, resources, and referrals
- Experience planning and implementing newcomer‑focused and culturally responsive initiatives, such as orientations, workshops, and engagement activities that promote newcomer success and belonging
- Experience using a newcomer-focused approach to support individuals facing settlement, academic, or personal barriers
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including settlement agencies, community organizations, cultural associations, and service providers to support newcomer engagement and retention
- Experience and knowledge in developing and maintaining data collection and reporting systems
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams) and ability to adapt to new technologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management, organizational and administrative skills
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, resourcefulness, and flexibility
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

- Salary Range for this position: $59,924 - $84,505 per annum
- Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
- December Break: employees receive time off with pay during the period between Boxing Day and New Year's Day
