ABOUT THE TEAM
The Centre for Newcomer Integration (CNI) at RRC Polytech is supported by a diverse, multidisciplinary team of experienced faculty, instructional designers, educational assistants, program facilitators, student integration coordinators, and administrative staff who work together to support newcomer success. The team delivers accessible, settlement and/or employment-focused language and integration programming, helping students build English language, cultural, academic, and workplace skills to achieve their education and employment goals. Services are offered across Manitoba, with programming delivered in Winnipeg, Steinbach, Thompson, Arborg, and Portage la Prairie.
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting to the Chair, the Centre for Newcomer Integration at Red River College Polytechnic, you will deliver in-person instruction at the Portage La Prairie Campus. The course will focus on supporting students in developing occupation-specific language skills with an emphasis on workplace communication, safety practices, and technical terminology. Responsibilities include but are not limited to planning, developing, modifying and continually improving instruction to meet the unique needs of adult learners. You will instruct and facilitate by actively engaging students, assessing achievement of learning outcomes, integrating technology to support learning, teaching and communication, supporting student success through coaching and advising, maintaining professional growth, and engaging with the department, the College, the community, and industry, as required. 
 
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • ​​Bachelor’s degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered​
  • ​​Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL/EAL) from a TESL Canada recognized institution (minimum 120 hours of classroom instruction and a 20-hour practicum). Extensive ESL teaching experience in Canada may be considered
  • ​Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • ​Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
  • ​Demonstrated leadership skills
  • ​Strong presentation skills
  • ​Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • ​Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
  • ​​Knowledge of lesson planning​
  • ​​Knowledge of effective ESL teaching practices​
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
 
NICE TO HAVE
  • Familiarity with AI tools and willingness to adopt new technologies
  • ​Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
  • ​Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
  • Experience or knowledge of the aviation industry
  • ​​Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction​
  • Experience teaching occupation-specific or employment-related language courses

  • Salary Range for this position:  $67,069 - $105,146 per annum

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
