Position Overview:
Under the direction of a Senior Fleet Technician, Fleet Technician or Journeyperson Fleet Mechanic, will receive on-the-job training in basic skills in utility fleet mechanical maintenance and repair work leading toward Journeyperson status. The trainee will be required to participate in rotational training away from the headquarter zone for extended periods of time at various fleet locations throughout the province including Fleet Mobile Service. All trainees are required to complete the Manitoba Provincial Truck Transport Technician Apprenticeship Program and acquire interprovincial red seal certification.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Fleet Technicians and Journeypersons to overhaul, test and perform regular maintenance on utility fleet equipment.
- Operate all types of utility fleet equipment for functional testing
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalency
- Plus completion of a preemployment program in heavy duty/truck and transport mechanics
OR - One year of directly relatable experience in the utility fleet equipment repair industry and the commitment to enroll in the red seal certification program.
- Required to be eligible for registration in the four year Manitoba Provincial Truck Transport Technician Apprenticeship program
- Required to have a mechanical aptitude to satisfy all requirements of the position.
- Capable of communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Physically capable of performing all duties of the position, with the ability to push/pull/lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Possess a full set of personal hand tools as required under Manitoba Hydro Policy.
- Possess a valid Manitoba Driver's Licence Class 5 with the capability of obtaining a Manitoba Driver's Licence Class 3 A.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $22.57-$32.61 Hourly, $43,256.46-$62,481.38 Annually.
