Library and Academic Services (LAS) is a collaborative, student-centered team dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where learners can thrive. We support student success by connecting students, faculty, and staff with the information, resources, and technology they need, while fostering information literacy, independent research skills, and confidence in navigating academic resources.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Reference and Circulation Coordinator supports the delivery of library services for students, faculty, and staff across RRC Polytech campuses. This position coordinates day-to-day reference and circulation services, service desk operations, staff scheduling, interlibrary loan services, and instruction and outreach activities. The Coordinator works closely with colleagues to promote library resources, support student learning, and ensure responsive, high-quality service delivery both in person and online.
 
Key responsibilities include coordinating service desk operations and staffing; providing day-to-day operational coordination and guidance related to reference and circulation services; supporting onboarding and training of new staff; providing coaching and support related to service delivery issues; providing reference and research support; coordinating and supporting College orientation activities, library events, library instruction, and other outreach initiatives; maintaining library guides and resource promotion activities; coordinating interlibrary loan services; gathering and reporting service statistics; developing and maintaining procedures and guidelines; and contributing to continuous service improvement and library and College initiatives as required
 
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Library and Information Technology Diploma or a combination of equivalent education and experience in library and information services
  • Experience delivering reference, circulation, and customer service in a library environment
  • Experience coordinating services, projects, events, or operational activities
  • Strong interpersonal communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build consensus with a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and exercise sound judgement in problem-solving and decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs
  • Experience developing or maintaining procedures, documentation, library guides, or training materials
  • Experience working in a fast-paced public service or client-focused environment, preferably in an academic library setting
  • Experience onboarding, training, coaching, or providing day-to-day guidance to staff, students, or volunteers
  • Experience coordinating staff schedules, services, or operations in a unionized environment
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
 
NICE TO HAVE
  • Ability to guide staff/faculty in responsible and ethical use of AI in role specific work
  • Experience in an academic library environment

  • Salary Range for this position:  $59,924 - $84,505 per annum
  • Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
