Introduction
Francophone Affairs Secretariat is seeking to fill the Bilingual Manager, Translation Services position.
Duties:
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Francophone Affairs Secretariat, the incumbent is responsible for the financial and human resources required for the highly specialized operations of Translation Services, a central unit mandated to provide translation, interpretation and terminology management services to all government departments, the Legislative Assembly, the Courts, Crown organizations, Special Operating Agencies and other arm’s-length entities. The incumbent is accountable for the work of professional interpreters, terminologists, translators, revisers and administrative staff in meeting the translation, interpretation and terminology management requirements of the entire Manitoba government.

Qualifications:
Essential:
Postsecondary qualification in commerce/business administration with experience in a supervisory or administrative role. A combination of relevant education and extensive administrative experience may also be considered.
Significant experience in budgeting, financial administration, office management, and advanced accounting, preferably within a government environment.
Excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines with tight timelines
Ability to analyze situations, solve problems and make informed decisions on difficult issues
Excellent verbal communication skills in English
Excellent verbal communication skills in French
Excellent written communication skills in English
Excellent written communication skills in French
Supervisory experience, including the ability to assign, coordinate and review the work of unit staff
Ability to work autonomously, with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to build and maintain good working relationships with unit staff, clients, suppliers and departmental finance staff, ability to interact with others with tact
Knowledge of Manitoba’s FLS legislation, regulations and policies, and a solid understanding of the obligations regarding the availability of public information in French
Desired:
Knowledge of the translation industry or experience working in a translation office
