Introduction
The Department of Public Service Delivery is seeking qualified individuals to fill the position of Deceased Estates Clerk within the Public Guardian and Trustee Branch under Consumer Protection Division.
The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee of Manitoba (PGT) is a provincial government Special Operating Agency that manages the affairs of Manitobans who are unable to do so themselves and have no one else willing or able to act on their behalf, as well as administers the estates of individuals residing in Manitoba who have died and who have no one else to act as administrator or executor. The PGT also manages trust money on behalf of individuals under the age of 18 as well as those who are under a legal disability. In addition, the PGT manages the personal and financial affairs of individuals who are incompetent to make independent decisions or who live with intellectual disabilities.

The Adult Services Section of the Public Guardian and Trustee’s Office is responsible for managing the personal care and property of adult clients who are assessed as mentally incapable due to mental illness or an intellectual disability. When an adult PGT client passes away, the Deceased Estates Clerk administers the client’s estate in accordance with the provisions of The Public Guardian and Trustee Act and in accordance with office policy and procedure.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Experience administering the estates of deceased individuals.
Experience interpreting and applying policies and legislation, including experience applying The Intestate Succession Act.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders including a variety of professionals and the public.
Effective verbal communication skills to clearly and professionally communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Effective written communication skills with experience drafting and editing correspondence or other communications to a diverse audience.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to effectively manage a high volume of work and competing demands.
Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), or similar software applications.
