• Supervise a section consisting of Geographic Information Officers and Technical Assistants.  Act as the Division subject matter expert on all things related to geomatics, geospatial data management, and geographic information systems (GIS).
• Responsible for the provision of geospatial information acquisition, quality control, management, and dissemination, to meet the needs of the Corporation with a focus on the Engineering Division.
• Manage the key touchpoints and relationships with other departments, Business Units, and external agencies with respect to their geospatial data requirements.
• Initiate changes or training as required to achieve individual, group, and departmental objectives; and recommend appropriate policy revisions to enhance effective operations. Review and monitor the performance of staff to determine and recommend resources required to effectively meet business objectives.
• Provide vision, oversight, and coordinate the preparation of business plans, budgets, workload projections, and strategic plans for the resourcing of the group and the acquisition and implementation of geospatial information and technologies.  
• Provide Geomatics consultation and work with clients to define complex business requirements, determine the appropriate information/technology solution, and oversee the delivery of the solution to satisfy the business plans and objectives of the client.
• Administer the Brass Cap-Survey Data Management System, develop programs to enhance existing survey control in Manitoba Hydro's system, and target areas where issues are present.
• Consult and coordinate with the Legal Dept. and Supply Chain Management on service contracts and data sharing agreements for the acquisition and use of geospatial information and products. Negotiate terms with vendors and external parties; determine milestones and approve payments.
• Represent the Corporation on matters related to geospatial information and technology on external committees and working groups.
• Responsible for providing formal presentations, briefing materials, Executive Committee Recommendations, correspondence, and reports on geomatics/geospatial/GIS information, technologies, and related matters.

• A degree in Geomatics Engineering from an institute of recognized standing and a minimum of five years of related experience of which three years must be in a supervisory or leadership capacity;
  OR
• A diploma in Geomatics Technology from an institute of recognized standing, plus seven years of related experience of which three years must be in a supervisory or leadership capacity;
  OR
• An advanced diploma in Geographic Information Systems Technology from an institute of recognized standing, plus seven years of related experience of which three years must be in a supervisory or leadership capacity;
  OR
• A two-year diploma in a related discipline from an institute of recognized standing, plus seven years of directly related experience of which three years must be in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
• Possess a comprehensive knowledge of geomatics engineering and applications pertaining to Manitoba Hydro's core business. Strong familiarity with ESRI and eGIS is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex issues clearly with a variety of stakeholders and provide credible information/instructions to team members through oral or other methods of communication.
• Proven ability to identify and resolve issues, and develop new approaches, products, and services to meet organizational needs.
• Ability to make important decisions and solve problems by assessing the impact and implications of the likely outcome. 
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff at all levels internally and externally to the Corporation with diplomacy, and tact, with the ability to gain the trust, respect, and confidence of others.

• Knowledge of the Corporation's organizational structure, collective agreements, safety rules, policies, and procedures.
