The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and clinical practice. Exceptional candidates will be considered with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below:
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a productive and internationally recognized research program, obtain external funding, teach primarily graduate-level and some undergraduate-level courses, supervise graduate and undergraduate research, supervise clinical practice, and contribute to service. Alternative delivery modes of teaching (e.g. online instruction) may be available. The standard weighting of responsibilities for full-time equivalent faculty members in the Faculty of Arts is 40% research, 40% teaching, and 20% service. The normal teaching load is 12 credit hours or 4 courses per year (with teaching release for new faculty in the first 2 years, and for faculty who are principal investigators on Tri-Agency grants). Practicum supervision is credited at 1.5 teaching credit hours per supervised student.

Qualifications
Candidates should have completed a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree by the time of appointment from a CPA or APA accredited psychology program with an approved internship. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain registration as a Clinical Psychologist in Manitoba. Successful candidates close to completion of their doctoral degree may be appointed to a term position at the rank of Lecturer until successful completion of their degree, at which time they will begin their probationary appointment as an Assistant Professor.

Applicants are expected to have demonstrated excellence in research in any area of clinical psychology, broadly defined, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications, presentations at national and international conferences, and the potential to attract external grant funding. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and clinical supervision. All areas of clinically relevant research and teaching will be considered, with priority given to applicants with teaching and/or clinical expertise with Indigenous mental health, child/youth mental health, and/or assessment. Evidence of clinical practice, research and/or teaching with diverse populations is an asset.

The Department of Psychology currently has 35 full time tenured and tenure-track faculty members and 4 Instructors and offers a full range of both undergraduate and graduate programs, with over 100 graduate students. Psychology faculty maintain active research programs in basic and applied psychological science spanning across the areas of applied behavioural analysis, brain and cognitive science, clinical, developmental, quantitative, school, and social and personality psychology. The clinical program also operates the Psychological Service Centre that serves as a training centre for students and provides free psychological services to the Winnipeg community.
The University of Manitoba offers outstanding collaborative research opportunities. Department of Psychology faculty maintain strong connections with the communities of clinicians, health educators, and researchers in the Departments of Clinical Health Psychology, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, College of Nursing, and College of Pharmacy (Rady Faculty of Health Sciences) and the Health Sciences Center Winnipeg (the provincial academic hospital operated by Manitoba’s public health authority). In addition, the superb research infrastructure available in Winnipeg, including the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy (MCHP), Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM), Health Sciences Centre Foundation, and St. Boniface Hospital Research Centres, support the cutting edge health research conducted by Psychology faculty.
