Position Summary:
Southeast Child & Family Services is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Family Visit Driver to provide transportation for children, youth, parents, caregivers, and families. Transportation may include family visits, medical and school appointments, cultural activities, programming, community services, and other approved appointments. The Driver will ensure passengers are transported safely, respectfully, and on time while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Responsibilities:
- Safely transport children, youth, and families to scheduled visits and appointments.
- Complete pick-ups and drop-offs at approved locations and according to Agency schedules.
- Ensure seat belts and appropriate child safety seats are used.
- Maintain appropriate supervision and never leave a child or vulnerable person unattended in a vehicle.
- Follow transportation instructions, safety plans, and Agency procedures.
- Complete basic vehicle safety checks and keep the Agency vehicle clean and safe.
- Maintain mileage, transportation, and other required records.
- Report delays, accidents, safety concerns, incidents, or other concerns promptly.
- Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and respectful communication.
- Travel within the community and to rural or urban locations as required.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience working with or transporting children, youth, families, or vulnerable persons is an asset.
- Knowledge of First Nations communities we serve, cultures, traditions, and family systems is an asset.
- Strong communication, organization, reliability, and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Ability to remain calm and make safe decisions in unexpected situations.
- Trauma-informed and culturally safe experience is an asset.
Driver Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license in good standing and a reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory driver’s abstract.
- Must meet Agency and insurance requirements for operating Agency vehicles.
- Satisfactory criminal record, vulnerable sector, child abuse registry, and other required checks.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as required.
Preference will be given to Southeast members and Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit)
candidates meeting the position requirements.
