Post-secondary degree in Financial Management, Accounting, or Business Administration preferably at the graduate level. An equivalent combination of a directly related degree (e.g.: labour relations, public administration) combined with financial management experience may be considered.
Experience in drafting, analyzing, interpreting and explaining various policies, procedures, or legislation within a government or corporate setting.
Strong political acumen with the ability to manage internal and external demands, handle inquiries, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail with experience shown working in a complex environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations affecting clients, public and government policy.
Strong written communication skills
Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to provide information in a clear and concise manner
Strong understanding of cultural diversity and sensitivity in engaging with appellants from diverse backgrounds
Strong leadership skills, with human resource management experience such as supervision, coaching, training, managing employee performance, and recruitment.
Desired:
Knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act, Criminal Code of Canada, the Drivers and Vehicles Act, knowledge of the National Safety Code standards and Canadian Medical Association guidelines/standards.
Demonstrated working knowledge of labour relations, with an understanding of the work environment within both government and private sectors.
Duties:
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services, the incumbent is accountable for leading, directing, managing, and controlling the day-to-day operations of The Licence Suspension Appeal Board and Medical Review Committee. This encompasses the management of board and committee in accordance with Human Resource, Financial and general administrative policies, practices and processes. Manages human resources functions, including recruitment, selection, orientation, performance evaluations, disciplinary processes, and learning plan development and review and provides mentorship to staff delivering administrative support services to the Boards.
The incumbent is also the Secretary of The Licence Suspension Appeal Board (LSAB) and Medical Review Committee (MRC) and provides executive support to both the LSAB and MRC including ongoing advice and direction on legislation, regulations and policy decisions.
