Position Summary
The Manager of the Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games (MISG) 2025 is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and on-site delivery of the Games hosted in Sagkeeng First Nation from August 10–15, 2025. This role provides leadership to staff, volunteers, and partners to ensure the Games are delivered safely, efficiently, and in a manner that reflects Sagkeeng First Nation values, culture, and community priorities.
The Manager serves as the primary point of contact between Sagkeeng First Nation, the Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games Council, participating communities, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Coordination
· Lead the overall planning and execution of MISG 2025 in Sagkeeng First Nation
· Develop and manage detailed work plans, timelines, and operational schedules
· Coordinate sport competitions, cultural events, ceremonies, and ancillary activities
· Ensure alignment with Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games standards and requirements
Leadership and Team Management
· Recruit, supervise, and support volunteer Games staff and key volunteers
· Coordinate with sport convenors, venue managers, and functional leads
· Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful working environment
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
· Liaise with Sagkeeng First Nation leadership, departments, and community members
· Act as the main contact with the Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games Council
· Coordinate with participating First Nations, sponsors, service providers, and partners
· Support cultural protocols, Elders involvement, and community participation
Operations and Logistics
· Oversee venue readiness, accommodations, transportation, food services, and security
· Coordinate health, safety, and emergency planning
· Ensure accessibility and inclusion for all participants
· Monitor day-to-day Games operations and resolve issues as they arise
Financial and Administrative Oversight
· Assist with budget oversight and tracking of Games-related expenditures
· Approve purchases and contracts within delegated authority
· Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting
Communications and Promotion
· Support internal and external communications related to the Games
· Coordinate schedules, briefings, and information for teams and officials
· Work with communications staff on promotions, signage, and announcements
Post-Games Wrap-Up
· Lead Games close-out activities and demobilization
· Prepare final reports, evaluations, and recommendations
· Support financial reconciliation and documentation
Qualifications and Experience
· Experience in event management, sport event coordination, or large-scale community events
· Demonstrated leadership and staff/volunteer management experience
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills
· Experience working with First Nations or Indigenous organizations preferred
· Knowledge of Indigenous sport, culture, and community protocols is an asset
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during the Games
