Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must be able to travel throughout Winnipeg and Manitoba.
Must hold a valid Driver's License.
Qualifications:
Essentail:
Recognized and accepted by the Indigenous Community by sharing and teaching of wisdom and knowledge of traditional Indigenous values and ceremonial skills.
Experience providing ceremonies and spiritual activities within an Indigenous community.
Experience providing culturally appropriate support to individuals and groups.
Experience working with Indigenous people who have relocated from indigenous communities to large urban centres.
Knowledge of Indigenous spirituality and cultural programs available in the community.
Experience creating programming for Indigenous people and non-Indigenous people in a community setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge of Manitoba Housing and the unique challenges of the tenants that reside there.
Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
Desired:
Able to communicate in an Indigenous language.
Duties:
As a member of the Support Services team, the Indigenous Cultural Caregiver works under the supervision of the Program Manager, Tenant Services. The position provides opportunities for both tenants and staff to gain knowledge and understanding of Indigenous traditions, teachings and ceremonies for the purpose of promoting positive healthy change. The services provided by the Indigenous Cultural Caregiver is unique as a result of their teaching and life experiences in matters pertaining to Indigenous Culture, philosophy, practices and holistic approach to life. Indigenous Cultural Caregivers have many gifts and conduct many Ceremonies, however few can perform all ceremonies or have all of the gifts.
