SALARY: $101,376 - $135,795 per annum

DUTIES
Reporting to the Dean, School of Health Sciences and Community Services, the Director, Interdisciplinary Health and Community Services Simulation Center, is responsible for overseeing the Interdisciplinary Health and Community Services Simulation Center and lab usage for the Health Sciences and Community Services programs and community partner initiatives. The Director will oversee the daily operations, revenue generation and related activities to ensure quality programming, accreditation initiatives and financial sustainability of the centre.   
 
The Centre Director will have specific knowledge about simulation pedagogy and best practices. The Director position requires understanding of emerging trends in simulation and health industry not only on a local and nation level, but international trends and best practices to support the centre’s international accreditation. 
 
The Incumbent will lead strategic investment opportunities in priority areas, including but not limited to simulation and interprofessional learning initiatives. This role will require outreach and collaboration with School of Health Sciences and Community Services administration, faculty, students and industry, community and government. 
 
In consultation with the Dean, the incumbent will lead the overarching strategy for priority areas, including digital health, health care simulation, skills training, and medical technologies. They will work closely with the Dean and Associate Deans to determine optimal opportunities and timing for funding. 
The incumbent will establish internal processes, procedures and best practices for determining go/no-go opportunity assessments. The incumbent will also implement tools to create efficiencies, provide access to information and create timely reports. e.g. customer relationship management database, inventory management/sign out procedures, asset management system and opportunity tracking system.
 
The incumbent is responsible for the hiring, development and performance management of the Simulation Centre team.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in a health-related discipline; a combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience leading and facilitating annual strategic and financial planning processes with an emphasis on generating revenue from an entrepreneurial lens
  • Extensive experience managing financial matters including budget, variance analysis and cost-benefit analysis
  • Demonstrated effective human resource management skills including, supervising and directing employees, evaluating employee performance, authorization of employee leaves and overtime
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze and proactively identify opportunities, take initiative and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop partnerships with industry, government, and educational institutions with an emphasis on promotion of community relationships
  • Proven ability to monitor industry trends and proactively conceive and design profitable solutions to respond to the needs of industry and meet the financial targets of the department
  • Ability to represent the College and develop positive relationships with diverse stakeholders, internally and externally
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to prepare updates, reports, briefing notes and proposals
  • Knowledge and experience in advancing Truth and Reconciliation and the calls to action
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in a related discipline
  • Experience in health-related simulation
  • Experience with Post Secondary Education
  • Experience with accreditation and regulatory oversight
  • Experience in leadership and business management
