Position Overview: Peguis Child and Family Services is seeking a dedicated Specialized Foster Parent to join our Resource Homes team. This position provides high-quality, trauma-informed care to children and youth with complex needs.
The Specialized Foster Parent will reside in the agency Resource Home during each 7-day on-duty rotation and is responsible for creating a stable, nurturing, and structured living environment. During on-duty periods, the role requires full availability to respond to the daily needs and potential crises involving children and youth. The successful candidate will also support and supervise support/respite staff to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe, caring, and structured home environment for children and youth.
- Support and encourage youth participation in daily activities, routines, and goals.
- Supervise youth with complex behavioral, emotional, or developmental needs, including those with high-risk behaviors.
- Maintain consistent daily routines, including meals, chores, recreation, and community outings.
- Respond to emergencies or crises that may arise during the 7-day on-duty rotation.
- Complete household duties, including cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
- Document all critical incidents and maintain accurate and timely records.
- Supervise support and respite staff and ensure compliance with agency policies.
- Work collaboratively with caseworkers, clinicians, and other professionals involved in the child’s care.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children and youth with complex needs.
- Ability to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental home environment.
- Strong crisis-management and problem-solving skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, clean driving record, and $2,000,000 liability insurance.
