Senior Director of Community Response

Under the guidance and direction of the CEO and participating as a member on the senior leadership team, the Senior Director of Community Response oversees the day-to-day administration of various programming and initiatives guided by the principals of the EHW Strategic Plan. In addition, the Senior Director of Community Response is responsible for supporting End Homelessness Winnipeg’s mandate, ensuring that programs align with EHW’s strategic objectives, upholding its values, and contributing to its strength and reputation as a valued partner.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Overseeing and managing various programs and initiatives, ensuring their effective operation
  • Advancing and monitoring the key targets, directives, and recommendations of the Strategic Plan and related strategies and plans to prevent and end homelessness in Winnipeg
  • Providing strategic advice and high-level support to the CEO, Senior Directors, Directors, and Managers
  • Planning, directing, supervising, and monitoring the activities of assigned portfolios in addressing the individual and social conditions, along with systemic policies that have created or contributed to homelessness
  • Leading Initiatives that improve community coordination, creating systemic change, data collection and responding to the needs of the community
  • Serving as a key spokesperson for the organization, ensuring consistent messaging and enhancing the profile of End Homelessness Winnipeg
  • Liaising, communicating, collaborating, and negotiating with stakeholders, governments,  consultants, judicial bodies, and lived experience experts on matters related to the delivery of programs and EHW initiatives
  • Ensuring the understanding of EHW’s vision, mission, mandate, and goals to all staff, stakeholders, government, community partners, and the general public 
  • Other duties as assigned and consistent with purpose of position

You are passionate about ending homelessness and have an in-depth understanding of homelessness and housing, as well as the needs of particularly vulnerable and over-represented populations and the issues affecting many homeless and low-income people. You also possess the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and related experience:
  • As End Homelessness Winnipeg is committed to reconciliation and the inclusion of an Indigenous world view, experience with the practice of Indigenous culture, history, knowledge systems, and Indigenous community relationship building practices and protocols is required
  • Degree and/or Diploma in Social Sciences, Human Services, Public Administration, Business Administration, Community Development or a related discipline, Master’s Degree considered an asset
  • Senior leadership level of responsibility with at least 5 years of directly related experience 
  • Experience leading and coaching multi-disciplinary senior level professionals in the development and implementation of complex projects (in a unionized environment an asset)
  • Demonstrated experience creating, implementing and evaluating communication strategies and plans, as well as associated materials and content
  • Experience with media relations and messaging
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the administration and management of budgets
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector and with Indigenous organizations
  • Experience establishing and maintaining successful collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the Indigenous community, community agencies, funders and government
  • Experience with Collective Impact, community engagement and systems change
  • Strong project management analytical and research evaluation skills
  • Experience consulting, engaging, and communicating with multiple sectors, including hosting and facilitation of small and large group discussions
  • Knowledge of community issues related to homelessness and knowledge of colonization and the historical factors that continue to impact Indigenous people with regard to homelessness, poverty, etc.
  • A valid MB driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for transportation while on End Homelessness Winnipeg business

Salary range: $93,645 to $108,534 depending on qualifications and experience.
